Merry Christmas

The above image was created by my esteemed colleague Lee.
Hmmm, there's something missing.

I got this, along with a few other books while in London. It's quite
possible that I would have bought all of these recently re-issued
Penguin Classics, designed by YES. Thank God for baggage restrictions.

How could you resist?!

I don't usually buy smoothies in the morning (coffee is more of a priority),
but when I saw these I couldn't resist. It's part of the Big Knit 2008 at
Innocent.

London Transport Museum/ Tate Britain

I also finally got to see Tate Britain. I think I managed to collect
all their collections leaflets! I like the Happily Depressed one the best!

I'm quickly running out of museums to visit, though going here was
not a last resort, the London Underground fascinates me, it's just
so old. I also really enjoyed the audio visual projections (see above).

Carnaby Street

Guess where I went...

That's right, where else but London, I haven't been anywhere
else outside Ireland since I went to America nearly eight years
ago. I will however be making a trip down under in the new year,
can't get much further away than that. Hopefully I'll be able to
handle the heat, Australia of course being located three quarters
of a mile from the surface of the sun, to quote the above comedian,
whom I had the pleasure of going to see.

It is October?

I'm a bit confused, walked into Debenhams yesterday, and was confronted
by numerous little trees, strategically placed throughout the store. Maybe
I'm just crazy, but they looked a lot like Christmas decorations, there
were fairy lights and everything. But it's October, the first week of to be
exact. This is so very wrong.

Censored

When taking a photo of this exhibition at Tate Modern,
I noticed that the tree under which I was standing,
seemed to want to shield me from viewing a certain area
of the exhibit, unfortunately the wind blew the leaves,
and I couldn't quite capture how well placed the leaves
were, but you get the idea!

More London

I've gotten to the stage where I'm over the tourist attractions, and
find the ground in tube stations far more interesting... and the walls,
and the station notices (although my main reason for photographing it,
was that it was my birthday, and I thought it would be cool), that and
the fact that I thought I was about to die, after a day of, not so much
sightseeing, but getting value for money by visiting many parts of London,
with a very dodgy knee,I wanted to leave some proof of my turning 24.

I think after a few more visits, I'll be content to just sit in a pub all day,
but at the moment, you make the effort to get on a plane, even the journey to
the airport takes longer than the flight, so you feel like you have to do stuff
to justify it.

London (again)

Some pics from my latest trip.

Don't Panic

There's something very Irish about this poster, which I
spotted in Dublin airport last month. Tell people
where there aren't any toilets, mess with there heads,
enjoy watching them squirm. I'm not really sure what the
point of it is, as the toilets are actually quite close to
it, and had it not been there, I don't think I would have
even noticed the door to which it was stuck.

What did I do?

Well Indexhibit is finally installed, now all I have to do is get my head
around it. Hopefully by this time next year I might even have some
work up on it. I thought it would be easier, but then I thought
learning to drive would be easy.

What It Is

Nothing exciting happening, hence the neglecting. I should have some
new work up soon. Oh, and I'm going to see 'What It Is' in November, if
you don't know what what it is is, then you're not going to care anyway, so
I'll leave it at that.

Colours

It's surprisingly difficult to choose colours for this blog,
I keep changing my mind.

!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I use exclamation marks too much. It's just not necessary.
I'm going to stop now.

Give Me Rosa

Went to see them yesterday, finally. Very good. However there
were lots of ridiculously cute puppies and dogs, gambolling in
the park, which proved slightly distracting. Also there were far
too many plants around, I suppose all that is to be expected
from an outdoor gig in the summer. I prefer pubs.

Warning: This is Not an Art Exhibition

A few photos from the 'Breaking the Rules: The Printed Face of the
Avante Garde 1900-1937' exhibition, in the British Library. It was
only as I neared the end of the exhibition, that I was informed that
no camera's were allowed. Oops!

Looking Up…in the studio!

Friendly Fire

A few photos from Jonathan Barnbrook's exhibition, Friendly Fire,
at the Design Museum. The first one was just an arrow on the
ground in the museum that I liked!

Nerdy design thing of the week…2

I also took this with me when I left work, it was too cool to leave.
I estimate its age at somewhere between 12 and 15.

Nerdy design thing of the week

My Pantone mug! It was a gift when I left work. Of course
if they knew me even a little bit, they wouldn't have chosen pink!!

Well what else could it be…

but part of the Grand Tour project by The Partners for the National
Gallery! Of course I didn't know this at the time,it was only when I
went to the Design Museum's Design's of the year exhibition, that I
understood. Was quite intrigued when I spotted it though, and
the point of this post? Well it won a D&AD award yesterday!

Looking Up Athlone

I didn't seem to look up much in Athlone, too busy with college
I suppose. The only two I have are from a lazy sunny day at
the end of college, and a drunken night out at the end of college,
hence the blur! Actually I might add this one in too, as it is the
epitome of Athlone in winter, depressing as hell.

Looking Up London

And sometimes I looked down! Love these chairs at Tate Modern

Tate Modern

Hay's Galleria

Farringdon Station

I love London, well to visit anyway, I still don't know if I could
handle living there, but I am willing to try!
